 Awards that will be presented, Science Atlantic Environment Conference, 2018

Science Communication Award, sponsored by Canadian Science Publishing

The Science Atlantic Science Communication Award is offered at each of the annual Science Atlantic-sponsored student conferences. The prize is awarded to the student who is best able to communicate a science topic to his or her peers. The award consists of a letter of commendation and a cash prize. As well, winners in the disciplines sponsored by Canada Science Publishing (see below) will be offered the opportunity to write a blog post about the winner's research with professional editorial support. These articles will be posted on the Science Borealia blog . The award may be split into two prizes (one for an oral and one for a poster presentation) at the discretion of the judging committee.

K.C. Irving Environmental Science Centre Award

The K.C. Irving Environmental Science Centre Award is awarded annually at the Science Atlantic Environment Conference for the best oral or poster presentation of undergraduate student research relating to the flora or fauna of the Acadian Forest region. (Note: for the purpose of this award, student research on Boreal Forest in Newfoundland and Labrador will be eligible as there is a large overlap of species.)

Science Atlantic Undergraduate Research Award

This award is presented to the undergraduate student (or students) giving the best research presentation(s) at an annual Science Atlantic conference. 4 prizes: oral presentation (first place and runner-up), poster presentation (first place and runner-up).

Science Atlantic Graduate Research Award

This award is presented to the graduate student (or students) giving the best research presentation(s) at an annual Science Atlantic conference. 4 prizes: oral presentation (first place and runner-up), poster presentation (first place and runner-up).
